என் நிலம் சார்ந்து பாட என் நிலத்தில் என்ன இருக்கிறது
தெருக்கள் முழுவதும் குழந்தைகளின் சிதறுண்ட உடல்கள் குவிந்த பிறகு
'இங்கே வீடிருந்தது' என்ற சுட்டிக்கு பிறகு
தானிய நிலங்கள் எரிந்து சாம்பலான பிறகு
உங்களின் அமிலங்களால் நதி நிரம்பிய பிறகு
உங்களின் க்ளோரின் வாயு எங்களின் சுவாசத்தில் கலந்த பிறகு

என் நிலம் சார்ந்து பாட என் நிலத்தில் என்ன இருக்கிறது
முன்பு இருந்ததைப் பாடினால்
நாஸ்டால்ஜிக் என்றும்
சமூக அமைப்பைப் பாடினால்
பின் நவீனத்துவம் என்றும்
அழிந்த காரணம் சொன்னால்
பிரிவினை பேசுகிறான் என்றும்
அரசியல் விவாதித்தால் துரோகி
என்றும் எத்தனை விதமான தலைப்பு..

என் நிலம் சார்ந்து பாட என் நிலத்தில் என்ன இருக்கிறது
இப்போது உங்களின் நிலத்தில் உள்ள எல்லாமே
என் நிலத்திலும் இருந்தது
கூடுதலாக மனிதமும்

What is there to sing in glory of my land
As it stands today....
After heaps of torn limbs and torsos of children
filled the streets
After the allusion ‘here was a house’
After agricultural fields had burnt and turned to ashes
After the river became brimming with your acids
After your chlorine gas mixed in our breath.

What is there to sing in glory of my land
As it stands today....
If I hail what prevailed earlier
- Nostalgic
If I sing about the social structure
- Post-modernism
If I state the cause for the chaos and annihilation
- Divisive
If I discuss politics
- Traitor
Alas, what all labels and adjectives….

What is there to sing in glory of my Land
As it stands today
All that are in your land now
were in mine too....
In addition – Humanism.
